Two Victorian silver-mounted black leather belts. One with a pleated diamond-shaped back, having two silver mounts to the sides and an interlocking clasp buckle, all mounts hallmarked Birmingham 1896-7; length 76cm approx. And another Victorian example by James Brothers , having three ball-and-ring joints, hallmarked London 1876; length 84cm approx., gross weight 359.5g Both belts are in wearable condition. The belt with the pleated diamond-shaped back shows wear, with colour loss on the bottom of the back piece. There are also historic amendments made to the middle. The inside of the front leather pieces are worn soft with some minor loss; the exterior side is weathered, with creases/cracking. The metal joints and clasp all appear to be good and strong, with expected wear from use. The other belt shows similar creasing and cracking in the leather, especially to the front pieces. The back of the buckle appears to have been reinforced at some point. The pin has worn the leather slightly, causing a small tear. All the metal joints and buckle function appear to be good and strong, with some surface scratching from use.
