STUART DEVLIN - A "surprise" parcel-gilt and enamel egg. Having a textured starburst gilt exterior that opens to reveal a silver-gilt frog sitting upon an enamelled lily pad and enamelled pond with lily, numbered 8 to the base, hallmarked London 1978; height 7cm approx., gross weight 173.0g. General overall condition good. No repairs visible to the exterior or interior. There are some slight scuffs and scratches to the exterior polished band of the egg, commensurate with use and age. And some minor tarnishing. The interior band also has some scuffing from use. There are areas of guilloche where there is no enamelling, for example at the tear of the larger water lily and at the right-hand edge of the water. This is perhaps attributable to the production process. There is also a faint crack that runs from the right foot to the edge of the larger lilypad; this appears to be under enamel and again possibly attributable to the production process.
