bronzed figure of an archer set on a marble base 64cm wide 34cm high Footnote - Salvatore Melani was an Italian sculptor celebrated for his stylized, dynamic creations in the Art Deco style. Born in Florence, where he trained at the Accademia di Belle Arti, he spent much of his career working in France during the interwar period. His oeuvre encompasses stylized human figures—particularly dancers, hunters, and classical allegories—as well as sleek animal subjects. Executed in bronze, patinated spelter, and terracotta, his sculptures are characterized by geometric lines, fluid motion, and dramatic posing quintessential to 1930s European Art Deco design. Works are typically signed "S. Melani" cast into the base or bronze.
