The widest band is in the form of a diamond lattice; the subsidiary bands are decorated with reciprocal ‘tuning fork’ motifs. The fronts are woven in supplementary weft-float brocade, with some extra-weft wrapping. There are no borders. The selvedges are overcast in plaited V shaped pattern (Van Dyke stitching) in various blocks of colours. The slit panels of the closure area are in a diamond pattern in variable colours in weftfloat brocade, as is the checkerboard pattern above. The ends are formed of a loose tabby pattern hemmed over in blue wefts. The two loop panels are in weft twining in two colours with plaited loops from each side. The backs are entirely in kelim weave with attractive horizontal colour banding.” (Benjamin, op.cit., LITERATURE: 3rd ed., 2004, p. 77 “This is a decorative piece in original condition.
