AN EARLY 19TH CENTURY MAHOGANY ‘AXE MOON’ EIGHT DAY LONGCASE CLOCK having a swan-neck pediment above a glazed door flanked by turned boxwood strung inlaid pillars, the trunk with reeded square corner columns on a canted box base, enclosing a 14" painted square dial with shellwork spandrels, Roman numerals, subsidiary calendar dial and rolling moon aperture, fronting an eight-day weight-driven movement striking on a bell. 219cm high
