A RARE 19TH CENTURY FRENCH GILT BRASS AUTOMATION SINGING BIRD CARRIAGE CLOCK of architectural form with turned acanthus leaf pillars and cast scroll handle, the one-piece glazed upper vitrine enclosing a singing bird above an enamel dial with Roman numerals, fronting an eight-day spring-driven movement with lever escapement striking the hours on a bell. 31cm high handle up. The case is in good condition, with no damage to the glass panels. The dial has a very small and faint hairline crack near the centre, the movement is in good working condition but may need a service. The singing bird also works on demand with a lever on the side of the case.
