FREWIN, HEREFORD. A LATE 17TH CENTURY PROVINCIAL BRASS LANTERN CLOCK the brass posted frame with pierced frets, bell strap and domed bell, turned finials and ball feet enclosing a 6.5" dial with matted engraved centre and silvered Roman chapter ring, signed Frewin Hereford, with a large pierced blued hand fronting a striking weight-driven movement with anchor escapement. 38cm high, 6.5in dial The dial, frame and movement are all original. The bell strap has been repaired at the top joints, and the top finial has been replaced. The hand looks original. The anchor escapement also looks original; we have the side doors, and extra images have been uploaded. The movement is missing weights and pendulum, but it does tick and strike when pressure is applied to the barrels. The iron backplate is also missing from the back of the frame.
