AN EARLY 19TH CENTURY FRENCH ORMOLU URN-FORM MANTEL CLOCK WITH PUTTI MOUNTS the neoclassical case modelled as a lidded urn flanked by seated winged putti with laurel and foliate mounts on a socle and oval plinth applied with putti and wreaths, raised on toupie feet; enclosing a white enamel Roman dial with pierced hands; fronting a twin-train eight day movement with silk suspension striking on a bell. 40cm high The case has rubbing to the gilding on the base, the enamel dial has small chips around the winding holes and a small surface scratch below the numeral XII. The movement may need service but is in good working condition, striking the correct hours and half-hours. Comes with the original pendulum.
