AN EARLY 18TH CENTURY EBONISED LONGCASE CLOCK BY THOMAS YOUNG, LONDON having an architectural pediment above a pierced fretwork panel and turned columns, enclosing a 12" square brass dial with silvered Roman chapter ring, fronting an eight-day weight-driven movement with finned knopped pillars striking on a bell. 216cm high The movement and dial are original. The movement has no missing parts and is complete. The clock strikes when pressure is applied to the barrel. The clock comes with weights and a pendulum. But the pulleys are missing from the gut line. The case and movement are of the same period. The seatboard is original, but has two small pieces of timber that build up the cheeks. The case is in good general condition. The left-hand side of the masking is loose. The ebonised finish looks to have been repolished. There is no winding key.
