A Victorian burr walnut jewellery box. Standing on a slightly spreading foot, with veneered sides and a burr walnut-veneered lid. A sunken brass handle is fitted to the centre of the lid, which opens to reveal an olive-green silk-lined interior with gold-coloured accents. A mirror is nested into the padded lid, and the padded recess below has four shaped pockets pinned to the corners, with a sewn band along the back to hold small items. The front side is a wooden frame fitted with a bevelled glass panel; this folds down to reveal a vacant shield cartouche and a single drawer protected behind it. The drawer is lined in matching olive-green silk and velvet, with compartments for jewellery. The lock appears to work, and the key is present. Height 18.5cm, width 30cm, depth 24cm. The veneer to the lid has a split to the front right-hand edge.
