A LATE 19TH CENTURY FRENCH REPEATING CARRIAGE CLOCK the gilt brass case with fluted Corinthian corner columns and stepped base enclosing a white enamel Roman dial signed "Mappin & Webb Paris", fronting an eight day spring driven movement with ORIGINAL compensated lever escapement, striking and repeating on a gong; together with a Moroccan leather carrying case and winding key. 19cm high handle up The case has lost its gilt finish but is in good condition, with no cracks or chips in the glass panels and no damage or restoration to the dial. The minute hand is slightly bent. The movement is ticking on the original lever escapement. It also strikes and repeats, but it's missing the hammer. The clock comes with the original numbered key. The Moroccan leather case is distressed.
