A GEORGE II EBONISED VERGE BRACKET TIMEPIECE CLOCK the domed top case with brass carrying handle and pierced sound frets lined in red, the arched front door on a moulded plinth base enclosing an arched brass dial with matted centre, silvered Roman chapter ring and cast gilt spandrels, fronting a single fusee verge timepiece movement. The case has its original ebonised finish. There are minor scratches and rubbing to the case. The veneer has hairline splits on the back door and on the sides. There is a small area of damage to the moulding and veneer around the lock on the back door. The back door has a crack in the glass. The movement is original to the case. The movement looks in very nice original condition and has not been altered in any way. It looks like the bottom left pillar may have been removed and the holes filled. Originally, it would’ve been a five-pillar movement, now a four-pillar movement. The vacant holes on the underside of the case would’ve had hooks holding the moving in via the pillars. The movement is ticking and repeating the hours and quarters, but will require a service.
