A mid-20th century Middle Eastern brass-topped occasional table, the heavy circular brass tray top featuring deeply hand-chased and engraved concentric bands of scrolling foliate arabesques and knotwork, with decorative Islamic calligraphy throughout the field and a scalloped gadrooned rim. The top is supported by a dark-stained hardwood four-legged stand, the legs featuring vertical fluting connected by an X-form cross stretcher at the apron and a lower cross stretcher with a central turned finial. The brass surface displays extensive calligraphic script; however, this serves as decorative ornamentation and no legible maker's name or mark is present.
