A FRENCH TRANSITIONAL STYLE BOIS SATINÉ, PALISANDER, PARQUETRY AND GILT-BRONZE MOUNTED BUREAU À CYLINDRE late 19th Century, the marble top with a three-quarter pierced brass gallery above a shell inlaid cylinder front enclosing a fitted interior with a slide with a gilt-tooled leather writing surface, above three frieze drawers and raised on foliate gilt bronze mounted cabriole legs terminating in sabots. 105cm high, 86cm wide, 52cm deep The cylinder opens and closes well, and the pull-out writing surface also functions well. There are keys. The marble surface is in good condition. No worm or losses. There are a couple of age-related splits in the veneer, but nothing to cause any concern. The bureau is structurally sound and of fine quality, and is generally in very good, clean condition.
